The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee is a public research university that was established in 1956 and is located in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. It is part of the University of Wisconsin System and stands proud as an institution of higher learning in this state, offering a range of programs at both undergraduate and graduate levels. On the scenic shores of Lake Michigan, campus grounds offer excitement amidst academic and students' life. UW-Milwaukee is an institution of high expectations and high impact with regard to research, community engagements, and diversity. It serves over 22,000 students, with more than 1,500 of those being international from over 80 countries.
The university has a total of 214 academic programs-108 at the graduate level-pertaining to fields such as business, engineering, health sciences, and the arts, among many others, to meet the high expectations of its diversely talented students. The university is accredited by HLC and has a great deal of services provided for international students, such as language support, cultural exchange, and immigration advising. Besides modern facilities, UWM has a state-of-the-art lab complex, student residential housing, eating places, and recreational facilities, which support virtually every aspect of student life.

Scholarship Details

Scholarships for Undergraduate Students

UWM offers a scholarship program for newly admitted international undergraduate students, based on academic achievement and the candidate’s potential contribution to campus diversity. No separate application is needed, as all eligible students are automatically considered upon admission. The scholarship can provide up to $6,000 per year ($3,000 each semester) and is renewable for up to four years.

Scholarships are awarded monthly, and students will be notified as soon as decisions are made, continuing until the funds are fully allocated. To maximize the chance of receiving the scholarship, students should be admitted by May 1 for the fall intake or October 1 for the spring intake. This scholarship is only available to students in bachelor’s degree programs at UWM.
University Accreditation/ Recognition
UWM is institutionally accredited by the Higher Learning Commission to provide academic quality across the board. In addition, many of its specialized programs are accredited by respected accrediting organizations, such as music by the National Association of Schools of Music, dance by the National Association of Schools of Dance, and the arts by the National Association of Schools of Art and Design. Social work programs are accredited through the Council on Social Work Education, business programs through the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business, and IT and engineering programs through ABET, which reflect industry standards and professional recognition.
