The University of South Alabama was established in 1963 as a public research university. Scholarship Details

Global Freshman Scholars Award

The Global Freshman Scholars award is a competitive, merit-based scholarship for well-qualified international students, renewable for up to four years or until a first bachelor's degree is earned. To be considered, students must be fully admitted to the University of South Alabama, where they will be automatically reviewed for the award without needing to submit an additional application. Qualified students will receive an award notification via their JagMail account. Eligibility requires being an international freshman on an F-visa, degree-seeking, with a minimum SAT score of 1060 (or ACT equivalent) and a high school GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.

University Accreditation/ Recognition
The University of South Alabama has been accredited with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges to offer degrees in all levels, ranging from bachelors to doctoral. Its business programs are accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business International, also called AACSB, whereas the accounting, integrated information systems, computing, and engineering programs have been accredited by the ABET-Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology. In all, its programs of education were accredited by Council for the Accreditation of Counselling and Related Educational Programs ( CACREP); programs in educator preparation are accredited by the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation(CAEP), and Nursing is also accredited under Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education(CCNE).
