The University of Northampton is a public university established in 1999 by integration of a number of training colleges. It obtained full university status as the University of Northampton in 2005. In the same year, it also received the power to validate its own research degrees. It is one of the youngest universities in the UK and was named as a Changemaker Campus in 2012. It is also amongst the few universities that have been awarded Gold in the Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF) along with multiple awards in the social sector for adding value to the society. The university is dedicated to transforming lives and inspiring change no matter how great or small that may be.
The University of Northampton was ranked first for ‘value added’ in the UK in the 2012 Guardian University League Table. It has also been awarded 'The Outstanding HEI Supporting Social Entrepreneurship Award' at the UnLtd/HEFCE ‘Dare to be Different’ national conference in June 2011 and has also been named the Midlands most 'Enterprising University of the Year' for both 2011 and 2012, in recognition of its work in social enterprise. It is a diverse university with over 1000 international students from more than 100 different countries. It has a selective admission policy based on students’ past academic record and grades. The university also offers accommodation facilities to the students. Students can choose either halls of residence or privately-owned housing. They can also choose university accommodation available at Waterside Campus offering single and twin rooms with shared bathrooms or en-suites, complete with halls facilities and accommodation services as well as 24-hour security and a dedicated support team. Scholarship Details
University of Northampton offers a range of scholarships to cover international students to study in 2025/2026. One of the main awards is the UON International Scholarship that provides up to a 30% reduction of tuition fees to deserving full-time undergraduate and taught postgraduate courses. The award is merit-based and automatically provided to all international applicants without requiring a separate application. In addition, the International Graduate Scholarship offers a 30% fee waiver for students who have originally studied on-campus at the University of Northampton and are progressing to a Master's degree, if they have achieved at least a second-class undergraduate degree. The university also participates in the UK Government's GREAT Scholarship programme, offering £10,000 scholarships to students from countries like Brunei and Sri Lanka for specific postgraduate programs, on the basis of academic merit.
