First-Year Merit Scholarships
UMBC offers general merit scholarships ranging from $1,000 to $12,000 for in-state, out-of-state, undocumented, DACA, and international students, with no separate application required for first-year applicants who apply for admission. Scholarship eligibility is based on cumulative averages, grades, high school coursework, and optional SAT/ACT scores. Additional Scholars Programs, based on academic interests, require separate applications. Scholarships are available for fall and spring semesters, and recipients must maintain a minimum 3.25 GPA and complete at least 12 credit hours each semester to retain their award.
