Scholarships Detail

Merit Scholarships for Out-of-State First-Year Students

The Office of Undergraduate Admissions at Albany awards merit scholarships to a select number of first-year students based on academic excellence, regardless of financial need. Scholarships are valued from $1,000 to $7,000 per year and may be awarded through a test-blind process, where a student's academic records alone will drive the decision and ACT or SAT scores will not be a factor-except in the case of home-schooled applicants who are required to submit scores. Renewable up to three additional years with the requirement that the recipient remains a full-time student, enrolled in at least 12 degree-applicable credits and maintaining satisfactory academic progress and eligibility for out-of-state tuition.

University Accreditation/ Recognition

The University is chartered by the Board of Regents of New York State, which has officially registered all its degrees and programs and granted full approval to its professional offerings through the State Education Department. It is also a member of the Council of Graduate Schools in the U.S. and holds full institutional accreditation from the Middle States Commission on Higher Education, ensuring the quality and rigor of its academic and administrative standards.

Besides institutional accreditation, the University has earned specialized program accreditations from prominent organizations in various fields. These include ABET for its Computer Science and Electrical and Computer Engineering programs, the American Chemical Society for its chemistry curriculum, and the American Library Association for its library sciences.
