About

Established in 1870, the University of Akron is a public research university located in Akron, Ohio, some 40 miles south-southeast of Cleveland. Over its 150 years, it has developed into a comprehensive university offering a wide range of programs and being part of the University System of Ohio.​


The University offers over 200 undergraduate majors and more than 100 graduate programs, with particular excellence in polymer science and engineering. It consists of a student body of approximately 15,000 with approximately 700 international students from 101 nations. The college is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission, ensuring the quality of programs. International students are qualified to receive many support services, such as first-year on-campus residency, health care, counselling, and a special international student office to assist with visa and cultural transition concerns.

Scholarship Details

International merit scholarship for undergraduate students

First-time, first-year incoming students at the University of Akron are considered automatically for merit scholarships. The scholarships are awarded based on a comprehensive review of the student's academic record, selected curriculum, and cumulative GPA. Standardized test scores are not factored in because their submission is optional.

University Accreditation/recognition

The University of Arizona (UA) is regionally accredited by the Higher Learning Commission, which guarantees that the university maintains high academic standards. The Eller College of Management has been accredited by AACSB International since 1966, which testifies to its commitment to business education excellence. More significantly, only about 1.15% of business schools globally have achieved dual accreditation in both business and accounting. UA's eight undergraduate engineering and three engineering technology degree programs are accredited by ABET, observing rigorous quality standards. The baccalaureate, master's, and doctoral degree programs in the College of Nursing are accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). The nurse anesthesia track is accredited by the Council on Accreditation (COA) of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs.
