Gannon College of Arts and Sciences was established in 1925. A private, Catholic, comprehensive co-educational institution, Gannon has emerged as Northwestern Pennsylvania’s premier Catholic university and is a valuable community and regional resource.

Why Gannon University
- In 2007, Gannon University launched an impressive $25 million building project to transform the campus. The Erie Technology Incubator was built to encourage business development and create up to 300 jobs; the Zurn Science Centre received new classrooms and research facilities, while a new academic building was opened in 2008 as well.
- There are about 75 clubs and organizations at Gannon University students as well as student government and Greek life. Clubs include Brazilian Jiu-jitsu Club, Chemistry Club, Relay for Life Club, Science Fiction Club, Ski Club and The Environmental Club.
- As winner of the 2014 Abraham & Borst Award for Best College Station in the Nation, WERG – the university’s student-operated radio station – broadcasts daily. It has an Alternative Rock format on weekdays, Super Soul Saturdays, and community programming on Sundays.
- The Activities Programming Board also plans events throughout the year, such as: cookouts, ice cream socials, movie nights and comedy shows.
- Gannon is a member of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference in NCAA Division II. There are some 18 scholarship-granting varsity sports. men participate in baseball, basketball, cross country, football, golf, soccer, swimming, water polo, and wrestling. Women participate in basketball, cross country, golf, lacrosse, soccer, softball, swimming, volleyball and water polo.
- Notable alumni include John Stehr, an American television journalist who currently anchors at NBC, Kevin Benson, a television meteorologist for WPXI in Pennsylvania, and John Brabender, a prominent Republican political consultant.
