Scholarship Details
California Lutheran University (Cal Lutheran) offers many scholarships and financial aid services to international students in an attempt to support their studies and free them from economic burden.

Merit-Based Scholarships are reviewed automatically at the time of admission and do not need a special application. They are awarded based on academic achievement, such as GPA and standardized test scores. For instance, the Global Scholars Program provides renewable scholarships of up to $30,000 for incoming first-year students and up to $25,000 for incoming transfer students from Asia, Africa, the Middle East, Europe, and Latin America.
Need-Based Financial Aid is also available to international students, though in limited amounts. Awards can be up to $7,000 and are given based on demonstrated financial need. One of these aids is the International Grant, which gives a fixed amount for all years of attendance, depending on the student's financial need.

For those students who possess exceptional artistic abilities, the Visual and Performing Arts (VAPA) Scholarship provides awards that range from $2,500 up to full tuition. Applicants must demonstrate exceptional creative ability in music, theatre, or the visual arts.
Additionally, Cal Lutheran also recognizes students with particular backgrounds or affiliations. The Alumni Scholarship awards $1,000 annually to children or grandchildren of Cal Lutheran alumni. The ELCA Partners in Ministry Award offers $4,000 to children of clergy who are rostered members of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. Furthermore, the Congregational Partners in Education (CPE) Award matches congregational contributions up to $2,500 annually for students who demonstrate commitment to their congregations.
It must be noted that while Cal Lutheran provides these financial aids, international students do not qualify for full tuition scholarships. Therefore, students who are interested should be ready financially to cater to tuition, room, and board expenses.
