Ashland University, established in 1878 as Ashland College, is a private, not-for-profit institution in Ashland, Ohio. It is affiliated with The Brethren Church and was elevated to university status in 1989 to reflect its expanding academic offerings and student enrollment. The university's main campus occupies approximately 135 acres in a suburban setting, centrally located between Cleveland and Columbus, providing students with both a serene learning environment and access to urban amenities. Ashland University is oriented towards a personalized education experience with its definition, "Accent on the Individual," emphasizing its student-focused aspect.
Ashland University offers a comprehensive array of academic programs within four primary colleges: the College of Arts & Sciences, Dauch College of Business & Economics, Schar College of Education, and Schar College of Nursing and Health Sciences, and Ashland Theological Seminary additionally. The university holds institutional accreditation with the Higher Learning Commission, adhering to rigorous standards of education.
