Why SAT Preparation Matters

Regardless of the growing number of colleges adopting test-optional policies, the SAT continues to be one of the most important deciding factors when it comes to college applications. In 2023, 80% of colleges considered SAT scores as a factor in deciding admissions.

Those who take up structured SAT preparation courses score an average of 100-150 points more than those who study on their own.

Alfa Beta students, on average, are able to increase their scores by more than 200 points after completing our comprehensive program.

Frequently Asked Questions

When should I start preparing for the SAT?

Students on average seem to do better approximately 3-6 months prior to the scheduled test, as it enables them time to master the content and strategies without cramming. Students with more difficult goals ideally need 6-8 months’ time.

How many times can I take the SAT?

Research shows that most of the students tend to score better in their second or third attempt. At Alfa Beta, we usually suggest taking the official SAT approximately 2-3 times with preparation in between the attempts.

Can students with learning disabilities or test anxiety get aid from Alfa Beta?

Definitely. All instructors use prescribed teaching techniques with different learning disabilities trained into them. In addition, for students with test anxiety, specific stress management techniques are used, along with our specialized counselors assisting them directly.

What is the refund policy?

The first two sessions of any program offered comes under the satisfaction guarantee policy. If you aren’t fully satisfied, you can get your money back excluding a $50 materials fee. After two sessions, refunds can be given, but only in portions, again, minus the materials fee.

Do you offer financial aid or scholarships?

Absolutely, we set aside 10% of our seats specifically for scholarship students. Our need-based scholarships require an application form, which can be obtained online alongside relevant financial and academic credentials.

Education Week Magazine, Annual Test Prep Review, “The capacity of customization toward general strategies without losing sight of the student shafts all to adapting tailored strategies is what makes Alfa Beta as benchmark unlike others. Their standards which address gaps propelled through intense scrutiny leaves a long lasting impact.”

Student Testimonials

Sarah T., Harvard University, Class of 2024 explains, “It was 1280 on the diagnostic test and I needed at least 1450 to be competitive for my preferred schools. After attending Alfa Beta's 8-week program, my score after the SAT was 1520! The reading strategies were everything for me.”

Marcus L., UCLA, Class of 2025 suggests “I have consistently low 600s scores, as math has always been my Achilles' heel.” My instructor with Alfa Beta pinpointed particular gaps in my understanding and gave me tailored drills. I ended up getting a 750 on the math section. The difference in scores due to the attention was shocking.”

Emily R., NYU Class of 2023 explains “Strategies for time management of the SAT that I learned at Alfa Beta helped me significantly, but have also continued assisting me throughout my college career. Those 230 points added in the summer session were life changing for my family, and have led to scholarships that have saved us over $45,000.”
