University Life in Japanese Universities

For international students who are studying or planning to study in English language delivered courses in universities in Japan like the Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University (APU), Tokyo International University (TIU) or The International College of Liberal Arts (ICLA), university life in Japan is a balance between hard academic work and cultural engagement. These universities are internationalized institutions with an extensive curriculum for international students and the quality education system intact. Courses are commonly sectioned so that seminars and tutorials are available with varied people; this increases the students’ involvement in the lessons. They also get the opportunity to access modern research facilities, especially in technology, business and liberal arts streams.

Integration of culture is one area that seems to form a very important area of emphasis while studying in Japan. Thus, although the courses are in English, there are many opportunities to learn Japanese as a foreign language, to attend cultural exchange programs, and participate in university clubs or ‘circles’ which may encompass sports, arts and traditional activities of Japan and through this to make friends with the natives of Japan. University festivals known as “Bunkasai” are also another fun activity as students enjoy food, drama events, and other fun events for entertainment.

Studying in Japan can actually offer its own fully experienced feeling. Some universities provide dormitory services, where students can enjoy company and spare time to assimilate with the Japanese society. For instance, living in one city may cost more than in others; the cost of living in Tokyo is higher than that of Kyoto or Fukuoka. However, Japan can be easily covered by bike, and trains and buses are also affordable and within reach of the common public. The fact that the country is safe and clean also contributes to the feel of the environment in the country.

Informally, with regard to social life, many international students are able to make friends and even practice Japanese as a foreign language through language partners and other social events at the University. Another flexibility includes working while studying part time so as to acquire some income yet at the same time get an experience of working with Japanese employees. There are many jobs available and universities like TIU, ICLA and APU often offer jobs and internships where students get opportunities to work for companies in Japan. The degree received from these institutions is recognized all over the world, and all the more, studying in Japan can be an invaluable asset while searching for a job in the global economy. In summary, the said locations unveil the sort of university life in Japan that is perfect for those who wish to gain high quality education along with an understanding of the Japanese culture and traditions.
